Building a Hoboken Where Everyone Feels Safe
Hoboken has long been one of the safest cities to get around, but growth and changing transportation trends are creating new challenges—from reckless e-bike riding to crowded streets and sidewalks. As Councilwoman and a longtime pedestrian safety advocate, mayoral candidate Tiffanie Fisher is committed to tackling these issues head-on and making Hoboken safer, more walkable, and bikeable for everyone.
“It’s not just about avoiding tragedy. It’s about making sure you feel safe every time you walk out your door.”
— Tiffanie Fisher
Delivering Solutions On Day One
As Mayor, Tiffanie will continue with the successes of Vision Zero, but recognizes that Hoboken needs, and she will deliver, a better, broader toolbox —combining smart design, stronger enforcement, community partnerships, everyday maintenance, and education – to meet the realities of today and tomorrow in ensuring pedestrian and bike safety across Hoboken.
End reckless riding by Food Delivery E-Bike riders
Ensure Hoboken Police and enforcement officers consistently enforce traffic rules
Brand Hoboken as a “Pedestrian City” with consistent signage
Revise Vision Zero to include greater engagement with residents
Fix streets and repair sidewalks before they fail and improve ADA accessibility
Install more daytime loading zones to reduce dangerous double parking
Partner with major delivery companies to ensure compliance with Hoboken’s traffic laws
Increase DWI checkpoints and launch handheld ticketing for quick enforcement
“Building a culture of safety means city government, residents, and businesses doing their part and working together—every day.”
— Tiffanie Fisher
Building a Safer, More Connected Bike Network
As mayor Tiffanie will create an environment where cyclists of all ages can feel safe on every ride.
Complete the Green Circuit, a connected loop of protected lanes around Hoboken for biking, walking, and recreation.
Designate north-south and east-west safe biking routes and add bike boxes to Washington Street to enhance cyclist safety.
Provide bike safety education for cyclists of all ages and hold cyclists accountable for violations of traffic laws
Enact secure bike storage to make biking more accessible and practical for residents.
“My goal is to make Hoboken a more sustainable, bicycle friendly community..”
— Tiffanie Fisher
Tiffanie’s Record of Putting Pedestrians First
As Councilwoman for almost a decade, Tiffanie hasn’t been just talking about safer streets, she has delivered them. She is a leader in pedestrian safety in the 2nd Ward and across Hoboken, always focused on turning community concerns into real action:
Co-authored the Tests & Vests ordinance to curb reckless e-bike riding
Installed Hoboken’s first flashing stop sign (before she was even elected)
Banned e-bikes/scooters on sidewalks, parks, and the waterfront
Championed pedestrian and bike first planning in all new developments
Supported lower speed limits and Safe Zones near schools and parks
Voted in favor of the new Citi Bike contract to expand Hoboken’s bike infrastructure
“I don’t just vote, I lead. On every major street and sidewalk safety initiative, I’ve helped shape ideas, push them forward, and deliver real results — the difference between leaving a fingerprint and leaving a handprint.”
— Tiffanie Fisher
Relocated CitiBike stations to reduce conflicts on the waterfront
Built elevated intersections and pedestrian islands
Redesigned crossings and added sidewalk access ramps
Improved lighting, repaired sidewalks, and adjusted traffic timing
Let’s Build a Safer Hoboken—Together
Tiffanie Fisher is ready to bring real solutions and bold leadership to Hoboken. Because everyone deserves to feel safe on every block, every sidewalk, every day.
